PELAMIS LOGISTICS

BACKGROUND

For the last twenty years the Company Principles have successfully fished for tuna in Australia's remote north west, by using ultra low temperature long-line fishing vessels, that stay at sea for extended periods of time.

Maintaining an efficient high seas fishing operation requires keeping the vessels at sea working, and not returning to port for resupply and/or the discharge of catch. This requires reliable and consistent support of the fishing vessels, in the form of the supply of consumables such as fuel, bait and provisions, and the removal of catch, all on the high seas.

The Company has extended its target fishing area to include southern Australia waters, necessitating the expansion of its support services to match.

LOGISTICS

Logistics is the management of the flow of goods and services between a point of origin, and the point of consumption. When applied to the company’s high seas fishing this is a two fold operation, comprising an outbound leg originating in Singapore and terminating at the fishing grounds, and conversely an inbound leg originating at the fishing grounds and terminating in Singapore.

Outbound this is physical items such as fresh and frozen consumables, materials, equipment, and liquids such as fuel and oil. Inbound is generally exclusively frozen catch.

SUPPLY & SUPPORT

Maintaining an efficient high seas fishing operation requires keeping the vessels at sea working, and not returning to port for resupply and/or the discharge of catch. This requires reliable and consistent support of the fishing vessels, in the form of the supply of consumables such as fuel, bait and provisions, and the removal of catch, all at the fishing grounds.

NORTH WEST AUSTRALIA

Australian regulation requires that all Australian fishing vessels discharge their catch in a mainland Australian port, under the direct supervision of the Government. However, under special arrangement with the Australia Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA), the company has authority to use the Australian Port of Cocos Island to discharge its catch, and replenish its vessels fishing in the north west.

SOUTHERN AUSTRALIA

Extending fishing operations to southern Australia, requires extending the support services to southern Australia as well, This extended service providing the opportunity to expand the inbound leg to service other seafood producers, specifically live lobster and shellfish.
